ABS is an economical engineering plastic that is easy to machine and fabricate. ABS is an ideal material for structural applications when impact resistance, strength, and stiffness are required. ABS thermoplastic fire-rated sheet can be used as a base material for making of glare shields and side panel backing for airplanes.
Prime ABS 860 FR is an ignition resistant ABS with excellent process stability, high practical toughness, and heat distortion temperature. Prime ABS 860FR may be used for interior applications such as appliance parts, transportation, and electronics. This material can be screwed, drilled, routed, punched and die-cut with conventional tooling. Prime ABS 860FR can be color matched to meet your specific requirements. Prime ABS 860FR is available in thicknesses from .060 - .400. Textures include Calf Grain, HC, RM, Seville, Levant Il, FL/HC, and Diamond Plate. *Subject to minimums*
Royalite® R15 & R24 is a fire rated abs thermoplastic sheet product. R-24 is UL listed 94HB@ .060 and above in all colors. In addition, R24 is in conformance with MVSS 302 at .050 and above. R24 combines high impact strength and stiffness with excellent formability.
Overhead luggage storage compartment: These compartments require durable materials because they are subjected to quite a bit of strain in normal use. Yet, they also need to be lightweight, because their presence does not add to the aerodynamics or operation of the aircraft. Plastics like Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) or Kydex are excellent materials for these bins.
